Charity photo books

These are our finsihed and almost finished photobooks we made for charity organisations.

One Minute on Earth 2015 - 10th October - 10:10:10 am (UK time)

Last year (2015), everyone shot during the same minute photos from all around the world (10th October 2015 at 10:10 CET+0). Word about the project spread like wildfire and over 80 photographers from all over the globe took part. As with the other OMOE books, the variety of locations and time zones was amazing and this year we think the standard of photography was even higher then ever before.

The book is to be published at the end of April 2016, and we plan to use the same printing company that published the World Street Book. This will mean that the book can be sold more cheaply, resulting, we hope, in more sales and more money for the charity.

We decided to work with Oliviero again and help him out with building water pumps in Bangladesh. He will be in Bangladesh again in August 2016 and build more water pumps.

Because the print of this book was a donation (again!), 100% of the book price will be donated to Oliviero's photographers group.
The price below contains worldwide postal and packaging costs.

(If you are outside Europe it will take up to 3 weeks before you will have the book in your hands, if you are in Germany it takes 2 working days, and the rest of Europe within 1 week )

One Minute on Earth 2014

Following the success and fun the photographers had with the 2013 project, we had to do this project again.

This year, everyone shot during the same minute of the northern summer solstice (21st June 2014 at 21:00 CET+0). Word about the project spread like wildfire and over 200 photographers from all over the globe took part. As with the first OMOE book, the variety of locations and time zones was amazing and this year we think the standard of photography was even higher.

The book is to be published in early October 2014, and we plan to use the same printing company that published the World Street Book. This will mean that the book can be sold more cheaply, resulting, we hope, in more sales and more money for the charity.

We decided to work with Lauren again in Cape Town, South Africa. The money that we raise will help the upgrade of the Vuka Ntomboyi Culture Home’s shelter for Orphans and Vulnerable Children in Langa.

This photo book will most likely end up being our biggest charity project to date, and the kujaja.com team is very proud.

Because the print of this book was a donation, 100% of the book price will be donated to the Vuka Ntomboyi Culture Home.
The price below contains worldwide postal and packaging costs.
If you buy a OMOE 2014 book and the street book or the forest book you will 10€ off the total normal price.
(If you are outside Europe it will take up to 2 weeks before you will have the book in your hands, if you are in Germany it takes 2 working days, and the rest of Europe within 1 week )

The Forest

We were struck by the amazing landscape images uploaded regularly onto the website, with trees taking centre stage. We decided that, as trees are so important to the ecology of our planet, we would produce a Forest charity book to support the protection of rainforests.

We have joined forces with Francisco Alcantud (a kujaja.com member) who is in contact with Almir Narayamoga, the tribal Chief of the Surui-Paiter tribe, in Rondônia. He is well known for his innovative fight to preserve the Amazonian forest.

The book is ready to be published and will be once we can gauge the amount of demand there is for it. As always, 100% of the profits will go directly to the chosen charity.

World Street Photography 1 (2013/2014)

Members of the kujaja.com team have always had a soft spot for 'street' photography, so much so that they even launched a sister web site dedicated to good 'street' photography: http://world-street.photography/en/

The quality of photography demanded that a 'street' photo book be published. The book has turned into one of the most popular projects we have completed. With some world famous street photographers also getting involved to support the charity work, the final publication turned out to be one if not the best charity books we have ever printed. We decided to print this and distribute it ourselves. It took the team time to find a great printing company and then to do the shipping, but the effort was worthwhile as we managed to cut the costs of the book to allow more sales. As with all our books 100% of the profits will be donated to the small charity that we nominated.

The book was published in August 2014 and all the money raised will be going to the Ashalayam Organisation in Kolkata, India. They do amazing work helping street orphans, giving them food, shelter and education. We supported the Ashalayam Organisation with the One Minute on Earth 2013 project and look forward to raising a lot of charity money again for the street kids of Kolkata.

Mystic Landscapes

This project was really fun to do; such amazing mystical scenes were entered from all over the world. The final photo-book looked amazing and was a real success.

We decided to continue our support to Vuka Nomtoboyi Home for children in Cape Town, South Africa. All the profits were sent to Lauren who continued the kitchen improvements.

It was great to receive images of happy children and see the difference the photo books had made. The book is still available to buy through Blurb with 100% of the profits going direct to Cape Town.

Flowers

We noticed that there were always a lot of great photographers shooting incredible flower images and decided that we could produce another amazing charity book filled with wonderful images. This project was one of our biggest with an amazing number of participants. As always, the standard of photography was world class and the final publication was truly beautiful.

We chose to support another small charity. All the profits from the books sales went direct to the children living in a fugitive camp in Myitkyina in the Kachin-State of Burma. The people living in the fugitive camp are people who have lost their villages as they were burned down by the military because the land around contained minerals.

Night on Earth

On the back of the success of the One Minute on Earth project, we decided to do a night photography photo-book. We didn't restrict the photographers to a single minute; all images from any time and any place were allowed. The book turned out to be really cool with a great range of night shots. We published with Blurb again and it can still be bought today.

This has been a really successful publication, and, as with all the kujaja.com photo-books, 100% of the profits from the book sales was donated to charity. We made friends with a lady called Lauren who was working with a small orphanage project in Cape Town, South Africa called Vuka Nomtoboyi. She was doing great work with the kids. With the money raised from the book sales we were able to make such a difference to their way of life. We raised enough to fit out a small kitchen with an oven and fridge and buy pots, pans, bowls and everything they need to cook up a good meal for the kids. Numute (the lady who cooked the food) was overcome with emotion and so grateful for the kitchen, she had previously cooked over open fires. The difference the new kitchen made to her and the kid's way of life was incredible. We really liked supporting Lauren and Numute and vowed we would support them again on another photo-book.

One Minute on Earth 2013

This project was open to all photography, but there was a twist. Every image had to be taken simultaneously on the same day. The effect of photographers shooting at the same time around the world created an amazing photo book with a diverse range of images. The quality was high and the final publication printed by Blurb looked great.

We raised a reasonable amount of money and donated it to the Ashalayam Organisation in Kolkata, India. The money was received with warm gratitude from the orphanage and it was put to great use helping the 80 children who were being looked after.

Water

This was the very first kujaja.com photo-book and it turned into the nucleus for the web site and following publications.

A well received project with over 127 photographers from 36 countries taking part. The quality and variety of images were excellent and the final book looks amazing.

The theme 'water' was perfect for the charity we supported. We made contact with a guy called Oliviero who was working on small projects in Bangladesh. With the money raised from the sales of the book we were able to donate enough to build 18 water pump stations in various villages in the Dinajpur and Rangpur area. For the first time the villages could get a fresh supply of water easily and safely. Along with the water pumps we also raised enough to money to buy over 6 tons of potatoes and 7 tons of rice, and those supplies were distributed to families in the villages.
